Referring to the name of this site, the word Padang is not the name of the area which is the capital of West Sumatra.
The word ‘Padang’ in Sundanese means radiant, so some people also call it the Hill of Light.
Research related to Mount Padang began during the time of the Sunda Kingdom under King Prabu Siliwangi, namely around 1482 – 1521 AD.
This research is said to be the first research on this megalithic site.
Furthermore, during the Dutch colonial era, namely 1890 AD, De Corte and Rogier Verbeek carried out further research.
